Much Ado About Nothing
Feb. 14th, 2009 09:45 pmWow, I am really a huge procrastinator. Looking back, most of my entries are either memes, links or brief entries that say I promise to actually update my LJ and I don't until I make another similar "I promise to update" post.
Well, I haven't been updating anything because I simply allowed myself to get out of the habit of daily blogging. I apologize for the long-unexpected hiatus, I honestly didn't see it coming myself. I started trickling away from LJ as far back as 2005, but it really hit in 2007 when I started becoming more active with on campus activities.
I got back into theatre around this time after I realized I had missed it so much after I graduated high school. I also quit my job at Chick-fil-A at the same time and then got a job at the campus paper writing mostly arts and entertainment articles and feature stories (I recently won the award for best A&E writer at SLU and three of my articles were sent off to the Best of South competition at the Southeastern Journalism Conference).
Other than that, I graduated college (first in my family to boot) and traveled to Europe last summer. I'll be starting grad school this year and in the summer I'll be returning to London, England to study international media. Everything's coming up Tara. :D
I'll get into the particulars of these events at a later time since I want to make a list of what I want to document since a lot of stuff has happened over the past few years and I really don't want to forget any of it. I swear, blogging is just like re-learning how to ride a bike or something. But I figure, if I want to be a great journalist I might as well do my daily writing.
So in case it's not that obvious, I decided to restart updating my LJ more frequently from now on! I'm dead serious this time too! 8D;; And yes I'll be commenting on my flist too after I do some major cleaning up of the communities I belong to as well as cleaning up the flist itself. I really don't care to have a huge flist anymore since it only added to my blogging hiatus.
If people constantly complain about people not commenting on their entries then I feel less inclined to comment at all. I would always read entries but I would sometimes just never feel like commenting since someone said what I had to say already or I had nothing to add to the conversation.
Another thing I'm also going to stop doing is commenting on friend memes. I never really connect to people that way. It's kinda like we just allow people access to lurk into our LJs without really getting to know them. That's not how I did it with the people whom I'm really close to on LJ. We met via similar comms, forums, or roleplaying games where we would chat ooc. Hell, I first met my roommates in a Slayers community. I just want to go back to getting to know people better before instantly adding them. :/
Btw, I also decided to make my journal open once more but I will still lock certain entries that pertain to stuff I don't want to broadcast over the entire internet.
( So, about what's been preoccupying my time recently... )

Blog for New Orleans Theater Day
Jan. 26th, 2009 09:32 pmI have no idea where I would be without theatre, and that includes New Orleans theatre. Every time I perform in a show, I become part of a family with my fellow cast members. Some of my best memories are from our rehearsals, to the performances, and especially the cast parties. Anything wild and crazy can happen with theatre folk and it usually does. It's some of the best experiences of my life and a wonderful artistic outlet for those who do not know how to paint or draw. In theatre your body is your tool and canvas all in one. Sometimes the work is frustrating, the pay just as much, but when it all comes together and I hear the roar of the audience applauding you, I want for nothing more in my life.
2008: The Year in Review
Dec. 29th, 2008 08:32 pmSince I've been dead for like... 2 years+ on LJ, I figured the best way to let people know I was alive and kicking was to post a meme about my year in review. So here it is!
1.What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before? Became a certified critic, went to Europe, worked on a student film, graduated college, moved away from home, voted for a winning president.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I never keep my resolutions.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? My Deshikins' brother had a baby girl named Amelia.
4. Did anyone close to you die? No, but a lot of my favorite actors/celebrities did. R.I.P. Bettie Page.
5. What countries did you visit? Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France and England.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008? More money, part of a master's degree, an internship, a satisfying relationship.
7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? December 13th. Two years ago, it was the day of my greatest failure and this year it's the day of my greatest accomplishment.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Graduating, becoming a critic, being voted for best A&E journalist at Southeastern.
9. What was your biggest failure? Procrastinating too long on projects.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? No, but I did suffer emotionally from the stress my last semester had given me.
11. What was the best thing you bought? My iPhone. I love that damn thing.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? My friends who always support me.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? A certain woman who made my last relationship hellish to say the least.
14. Where did most of your money go? Rent, gas and my other bills.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Traveling outside the country and finishing school.
16. What song will always remind you of 2008? "Lucky Star" by Madonna.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? I feel I have more experience and that makes me happier.
ii. thinner or fatter? Same ol' cuddle bear.
iii. richer or poorer? I really lack in the green these days.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? I could have done better with Philosophy, done more writing, had been a president APO deserved, re-connected with old friends.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Procrastination. It is the one vice of mine I really hate.
20. How will you be spending Christmas? I celebrated with my friends at my apartment on the 23rd, then spent it with my family on the 24th and 25th.
22. Did you fall in love in 2008? I thought I was close to it, but I realized it was more of me wanting it to be real than it actually being real.

30. What was your favorite film of this year? Hands down The Dark Knight.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I was working on a student film during the day and then I went swimming with my roomies. I was 26.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Financial stability.

34. What kept you sane? Movies, coffee, good friends.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? None this year.

37. Who did you miss? Friends who've moved away this semester and friends whom I rarely get to talk to.
38. Who was the best new person you met? Aeriel's brother Rande is cool.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008: The computer age will be the death of us all.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
You load sixteen tons, and what do you get?
Another day older and deeper in debt.
Saint Peter, don't you call me, 'cause I can't go;
I owe my soul to the company store...

The Fight for Gotham's Soul
Jul. 22nd, 2008 03:39 amThe Dark Knight
Yes, it is as good as everyone says it is.
I'll write more on it later since I have many thoughts regarding to it but I have yet to decide if I want to make a bulleted list or write a full-out editorial on it. We shall see.
But my opinion in brief w/o spoilers? It's the best Batman film I've seen to date and the Joker owns my soul. *shiver*
If anyone wants to share opinions, feel free to post them! :D
I want to see it again. And again. AND AGAIN. ASAP! *more shivers*

The Slayers Recs List
Mar. 31st, 2005 10:00 pmIf I don't post this now, I never will. My Slayers Recs Post of Doom!! This will be constantly updated as I find more art, fics, & links, considering that it'd be nice to have some sort of my own personal recs list because I really have no idea when I'm going to make a website for it all.
I tried to make this as comprehensive as possible but it is nearly impossible to list every Slayers site out there. Hopefully this can be of use to others on my friendslist as well. There's old, there's new, there's shiny and less shiny...
Right, enough yapping. I know what you want. Now on with the links...
( Slayers sites, shrines, resources, fanfiction, fanart and all that shiny stuff. Made for all your Slayers needs. )
And yes, I will be doing this for my other fandoms. ^^
